After Arakkonam, Bangalore to soon be included within Chennai city limits

After announcing the inclusion of railway engine manufacturing town Arakkonam under Chennai city limits, Minister for housing and development R.Vaithilingam announced that in due course of time, the IT city of India and Karnataka state’s capital, Bangalore, will also follow suit.

Speaking at a press conference, Vaithilingam said, “Aamaa paa, expansion is the way to go. Ippothukku Arakkonam, adutthu mukkaakonam apprama Muzhukkonam ..kadaiseela Bangalore thaan.” Justifying the decision, Vaithilingam explained, “If you think about it, the way Bangalore is these days, it can almost be counted as a suburb of Chennai. There’s hardly any difference between the two cities. Adhe soodu, adhe veyarvai, adhe thanni kashtam, neriya Tamizh makkal. Just that they have less power-cuts than ours. I’m sure that with the water shortage there affecting power supply, even that similarity will arise soon. Angeyum ippollaam autokkaaranga meter podaama romba asingama nadathikkaraanga. Also, ask anyone in Bangalore and they will all agree to the fact that traveling to Chennai from there takes lesser time and money than traveling to their own airport.”

Explaining further, Vaithilingam said, “Another thing is, if you look at it, we already have engineering colleges which are halfway between Chennai and Bangalore. People go there to study daily. Considering the fact that Electronic city area of Bangalore is a stone’s throw away from Hosur, many Chennai universities might open colleges there, to maximize placements. So from this point also, it makes sense to include Bangalore under Chennai. College bus journeys will soon becomes 4.5 hours in the morning and another 4.5 hours in the evening.”

While a section of Bangalore has strongly opposed the move, another section has welcomed it, exclaiming the fact that the Cauvery dispute will effectively end, Bangalore will finally have a beach to its credit, if included under Chennai city, as well as the fact that multiplex ticket fares will reduce by 75%, besides the entry of Hotel Saravana Bhavan branches into it. Inclusion under Chennai would also mean the repealing of the 11.30 pm deadline imposed on pubs and bars. Hailing the move was Liquor baron Dr.Vijay Mallya, who said, “Phew! No more team worries. RCB will soon go under Srini Mama. So players’ salary woes will all be his. It’ll be very interesting to see the Red and Gold merging with the Yellow and Blue. CSK might be renamed Chennai Super Challengers. Gayle, Hussey, Albie Morkel and Ravi Ramapul! can’t wait for this combo!”
